To all those concerned about the continuing plight of Iranian political prisoner Arash Sadeghi, I propose that going forward we use the Twitter handle: #ManamArash
‘Man am Arash’ is the literary refrain from Shamloo’s great poem based on the legendary hero Arash Kamangir, who sacrificed his life for his nation in Ferdowsi’s national epic the Shahnameh. The refrain ‘Man am Arash’, famous in the Persian speaking world, means: ‘I am Arash.’ It’s similar in meaning, connotation and emotive force to the phrase: ‘I am Spartacus,’ in the West. It’s also cognate with the handle ‘Je Suis…’ in French.
Please help spread.
